All's Well That Begins Well

Just had my third pre-natal appt. today, and all is going well. My blood work came back positive where it needs to be positive and negative where it needs to be negative thus far, so our Little One is progressing nicely. I was surprised to find out that I've actually lost 3 lbs, but our doc doesn't seem worried, so I'm not sweating it.

Dr. Peterson has written me scripts for pre-natal vitamins ( I have to tell you I was somewhat disappointed to find out that I would be graduating from the Flintstone Chewables that she had me taking in the interim....made me feel like a kid again :-) and anti-nausea pills. I told her that, as things go, the nausea has been pretty manageable (Hey, based on horror stories I've heard and read about, I can't complain at all.), but asked when I can look forward to getting a bit more energy back. She was pleased to report that, as WeeOne's organs are almost entirely formed now, I should be feeling young and spry again in just short of 3 weeks. Hallelujah! I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever see the other side of 9:30 p.m. again. Looks like soon. But, as I've said, in the grand scheme of things, I can't think of a better reason to not feel good. This is truly a blessing and wonderful experience.

No real wacky cravings or aversions save the typical yen for ice-cream (thanks to my wonderful husband and awesome-Daddy-to-be for finding the kind that hits the spot! :-) and a small obsession w/ Cheerios. After they came right back up about two weeks ago, though, I don't think I ever want to see that big, yellow box again. And, I still can't stand the thought, or smell, of Orange Juice, chicken or coffee (MAJOR shock for those who know me). Here's hoping that that subsides soon.

On the whole, we're all right as rain in the Weber household. Thanks to those who have sent well-wishes. WeeWeber is gurgling her/his delight :-)

I'll try to update this guy about once a month. Next up: THE HEARTBEAT APPOINTMENT!

Much Love,
J

Nurseries? Not Yet. Bathrooms are a Better Idea.

Even before we found out that I was pregnant, we had begun the task of remodeling our bathroom.  Yes.  We'd picked out the tub, toilet and sink, come up with a color scheme and even found tiles to match everything.  The news that a little Wee Weber will soon be gracing us with her/his presence simply made us want to begin, and complete, this home remodel faster so that we can concentrate on other projects like turning our office into a nursery.

Now, I use the term we in this scenario lightly.  It is true that we picked out the bathtub, toilet, sink, tiles, color scheme etc... together, but that is really where the we in this project ends.

I gracefully bowed out at this point for several reasons.  First of all, I don't want my obstetrician killing me if she finds out that I have been breathing in mold,  dust and doing heavy lifting. (Who woulda thunk that this type of activity would be ill-advised for a pregnant woman :-).  Second, it appears as if all of these newly found little hormones that I have have made it damn near impossible for me to walk from one end of a room to the other without wanting to take a 5 hour nap, so I am attempting to conserve as much energy as I can.  Finally (and most importantly), I admittedly know very little about home remodeling projects and my wonderful husband does.

Bless their hearts, it has been Dan and my father-in-law, Eric, that have assumed the responsibility for pushing Humpty Dumpty off of the wall and putting him back together again, so-to-speak.   They have dedicated this 3-day holiday weekend to ripping up floors, tearing wood from walls, throwing out old bathtubs and toilets and replacing them with brand-spanking new ones.

For my part, I have run errands, bought bathroom accessories and generally stayed out of the way ( I find that making one's self scarce during the home remodel of a small space is advantageous for a happy, healthy marriage :-).  But, I do hope to help lay some tile when the time comes.

Although there is a way to go yet, a great deal of progress has been made, and I just can't thank Dan and Eric for all of the hard work that they have done.  I've attached several pictures so that you can see the progress.
